This book provides an in-depth analysis of current issues and approaches related to the teaching of English composition to students in and/or from Pacific Rim countries. The papers address both political and pedagogical issues. By considering questions of Western academic discourse and the political and pedagogical consequences of promoting such a discourse, the book reflects current concerns about the imposition of Western rhetorical patterns in non-Western contexts.
