Rudolf Bultmann: Selections from twentieth-century theologians edited with an introduction and notes by E.J. TINSLEY
Rudolf Bultmann, Ernest John Tinsley (introduction and notes)(from the Preface to the series)
The theologians represented in this series of five volumes of selections are those who, one can confidently say, are already assured of an important place in the history of twentieth century theology.
In the case of each theologian I have tried to give a fair representation of the author's work although, inevitably, there are important aspects of his thought which I have not always found it possible to illustrate. I have throughout preferred to give substantial selections rather than short extracts because the qualities of the writing of the theologians in this collection require this treatment for proper understanding and illustration. Even so selections are no substitute for the original, and it is my hope that readers will become sufficiently interested in what is given in this series to want to go to the full range of the authors' complete works.
