<p>The year is 120 AD, in the lowlands of Scotland.  The Roman empire is at its height, with the whole of Britannia all but conquered - only the wild Celtic barbarians north of the Roman frontier are yet to be crushed.</p>
<p>But the Celts, led by their war chief, Cefin of Mirchar, have other ideas.</p>
<p>Frustrated by Cefin’s mixed messages towards her, Mairenn, the clan’s young, widowed healer, takes off to pay her respects at her late husband’s grave.</p>
