It is spoken by less than a hundred aged people (2007) in southern Veracruz, Mexico. The author, Søren Wichmann, is a Danish linguist with a specialized expertise in Mixe-Zoquean languages. The book was published in Spanish in the series of Archivo de Lenguas Indígenas de México.
